Today is magical.
Not sure if it’s the weather or if you can smell spring in the air but there was something breathtaking about today. Mother Nature blessed us with a beautiful day and the little man and I ventured out to the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium.
To say Colin had a good time is an understatement. He had a blast!
Last time I took him to the zoo, he was about 7 months old, not even sitting up. He saw some animals but it didn’t capture his attention. But today, I saw his little eyes bug out and he was so excited. It was awesome seeing his little facial expressions when the animals moved around. He even tried to show one of the gorillas how to clap.
He really loved the gorillas (of course, why do you think I call him the Monkey?). He also enjoyed the sting rays and manatees.
The outing came at the perfect time; I was stir crazy and needed to get OUTSIDE. Walking from one end of the zoo to the other is the best workout. I met up with a new friend from our playground. We walked around and had lunch.
The best part of our trip happened on our way out. I found my friend Heather’s bench. (Heather lost her battle with breast cancer in 2008). I sat Colin down on Heather’s bench to take a photo of him and Colin just started screaming (as you can see in the photo). I didn’t know what was upsetting him, so I turned around—and staring right at me was a goose!
When I tell you I was eye-to-eye with this goose. I’m not lying. I kept very still in front of Colin until the goose waddled away. I looked up at the sky and just started laughing because Heather would have loved that!
I said to her, “you think that was funny?”
And then it started to sprinkle.
So I scoped up Colin and headed out. It was a great trip for both of us.
